Can anyone recommend a website or book to help a beginner with photography?>>CMcC posted:
I have a solid understanding of most of the technical aspects of photography (aperture, shutterspeed, controlling your exposure, depth of field, etc.), but I could use some artistic guidance, like composition, lighting, etc. I use a digital SLR and am primarily interested in outdoor photography. Thanks!

The complete handbook to photography; I believe it is called
Barnes and Nobles had alot of good ones
The only thing I personally believe any of these books wont tell you, is artistic guidance. That should come naturally, or somethin should inspire you.

check out “The uneasy streets of Garry Winogrand” or work by Helen Levitt, Diane Arbus, Alex Webb, or Walker Evans.

If you like outdoor photography. I would get some books by Ansel Adams. They are a bit techy but he has a good system for composition and light. He has been called the Master of Light. He is also the inventor of the zone system. I would get his three book series The Camera, The Negative, The print.
