Nikon D3x Review – Take Those Amazing Shots With Nikon D3x
For the lensman who likes to have complete command over each nook and cranny in his or her camera, the Nikon ʫx is unquestionably the one to choose. A detailed Nikon D3x review shows better features over previous D3 digital SLR, which received positive feedbacks for its ergonomic design and excellent portability. Take note however that this camera is on the heavy side, its body registering in at 43 ounces (1.2 kg).
The more significant change can be seen in the sheer number of megapixels, imagine a mind numbing 24.5! Sporting Nikon’s new technology, FX-format CMOS sensor, this camera increases the sensing area to 35.9 x 24.0mm. That equates to its full resolution, as commented on by Trey Ratcliff in his Nikon D3x review, in his much visited travel blog, stuckincustoms.com. Although he acknowledges that this great feature alone increases the sticker value significantly and is not necessary for small photographs, it is absolutely a must for him, since he needs always to take the best shots. With its high resolution, he added that the Nikon ʫx makes it perfect for giant screens, even in very close range.
Some other good point going for this camera is the ability to shoot up to 5 frames per second at the highest resolution, and up to 7 frames per second in a lower resolution, the DX format in 10.5 megapixels. This aspect makes it perfect for sports and nature photographers, when every fraction of a second is the difference between a magnificent shot and a poor one. Given, it is not the fastest on the market, but the camera specs offer high ISO, starting at ISO 100 up to ISO 1600. If that is still not sufficient, there are options to increase or decrease the sensitivity range. There are more options to adjust two stops higher or one stop lower, that extends the possibilities of the shots taken, reaching a high of up to ISO 6400 or a low to ISO 50 once more making this a suitable choice for photographers who wish to manipulate and predict precisely the outcome of every shot.
Other nice features are the room for two CF cards and the ability of the battery to operate up to 4,400 images per charge. The monitor provides vivid viewing with a bright three inch super density 920,000 LCD screen. Does Nikon D3x camera have any drawbacks? Trey Ratcliff, remarked in his post, complains of the step progression that is programmed to be one step at a time, whereas he would like to be able to program steps by twos. However, those details aside, he declares that this camera is his favorite and exlusively uses it, because he wants a companion that is extremely reliable, that taking second chances when in remote locations is not possible. For certain it shows in his pictures the absolute capabilities of this camera.
For many, the price could be considered its biggest drawback. With price starting from roughly 8 thousand dollars, exclusive of its zooms and accessories, the reviewed Nikon D3x camera is definitely for professionals or those who only want the best. And sometimes only the best is good enough.
